One of our awesome readers brought to my attention an upcoming geek-fueled fundraiser where participants will be playing video games to raise money for local Children’s hospitals. I can find no wrong in this and thought I’d pass it along to those like-minded individuals who’d appreciate this as much as I do.

Did you know that there is a way you can play some video games, and help out your local Children’s Hospital. Well if you become a part of the Extra Life: A Sarcastic Gamer Community Charity Effort, you can do just that. On October 16th, I will be joining many others as we play video games for 24 hours straight while raising money for a great cause. You may think that playing games for 24 hours is no big deal, but let’s just say that during hours 23-24, I am pretty sure my Halo guy was randomly walking in weird directions, as I struggled to stay awake. I was part of Team TRS, and I am pretty sure we raised over $5,000 as a team, and I had a great time playing video games with friends and family. If this sounds like something you would be interested in doing, here is the link to sign up: http://extralife.sarcasticgamer.com/wp/
Or if you would just like to make a donation, you can either choose a dollar amount per hour or just a set amount to donate. But the main thing to remember, is no matter how much you donate, every little bit helps, and hey, this just gives you another reason to play some video games. It’s for the kids.

I would like to add that if you cannot donate, but would like to help out in other ways, might I suggest passing this info on to all your friends and family, and maybe they would like to help. Or if you would like to help pass the time, my gamer tag for Xbox is phairus and for the PS3 it’s seandps. I would love to play a few games with any of you during those 24 hours.
I thank you for your time, and I also would like to thank all of the fine folks at Geeks of Doom for giving me this opportunity to let you guys know about this great event.
