A TV spot for the secretive JJ Abrams‘ film Super 8 was shown during the Super Bowl earlier this evening, and now the commercial is online.

Abrams loves to keep his projects under wraps, and as you’ll recall with Cloverfield, details about that film were slowly revealed through viral websites, leaving fans to speculate what it could possibly be about. Well, expect more of the same with Super 8, which already had people buzzing back in May after the teaser trailer was released.
Abrams spoke with Hero Complex, revealing finally some details about the Steven Spielberg-produced Super 8, which stars 12-year-old Elle Fanning.
The Paramount Pictures release is set in Ohio in 1979 and introduces a troupe of six youngsters who are using a Super 8 camera to make their own zombie movie. One fateful night, their project takes them to a lonely stretch of rural railroad tracks and, as the camera rolls, calamity strikes “” a truck collides with an oncoming locomotive and a hellacious derailment fills the night with screaming metal and raining fire. Then something emerges from the wreckage, something decidedly inhuman.
