Not much needs to be said about this one. Basically, someone in Warsaw, Poland decided to build a 100% zombie-proof house — you know, just in case the devastating plague we’ve seen play out so many times in movies, TV shows, comic books, and video games ever actually happens.
The shocking thing about the house is that it’s actually really nice when it’s not in zombie-proof mode — where it just looks like a big box — and many folks would happily live here. That said, considering an actual zombie outbreak is known as a fictional event (at the moment, anyway), is the price tag worth the novelty?

Here’s a description of some of the house’s features and how they work. You can see more images and read more about the house by heading to All That Is Interesting (via Daily Dead).
“”¦located in Warsaw, Poland”¦ the most distinguishable element of the design is the moveable exterior wall components that allow the house to be completely closed to its environment or open and connected to the rural landscape. while the initial read of the design might seem confining, the house, when in its open state, offers immense transparency while establishing a strong relationship to the site.
“¦mobile elements include large “˜shutters’ which essentially are hinging exterior walls ranging up to 3.5m in length. a drawbridge from the upper floor provides access to a roof terrace above the swimming pool. all the moveable components are mechanically operated with built-in electronic engines.
“¦the cuboid building is a concrete monolith, while its non-fixed components are composed of light steel trusses filled with mineral wool to ensure complete insulation. All exterior surfaces are clad with cement-bonded particle boards.”

This house is GREAT! I do worry about the roll down security gate though. Haven’t those things been known to fail, either by brute force or human error though?

Pretty cool house! In the US, it could be handy even for areas prone to severe weather (tornados, hurricanes, etc). For zombies though? Looks pretty secure. I worry about the roll down security gate though. As soon as someone cracks that baby open just a little bit, you know those zombie arms and legs will be reaching through! And a roll down gate as large as the entire wall of a house? Might not be able to take as much of a pounding as a smaller gate would. An accumulated throng of zombies could be too much for the gate, especially given the span. And if it doesn’t give, then I’d hate to be inside with all that pounding unless there’s some soundproofing between the roll down gate and the inside of the house. I can see that there are glass doors and windows inside but the buffeting would likely carry indoors similar to a speaker box. Aside from that weak point, I love this house!

What is this obsession with zombies? There are no zombies, never have been, never will be.  Are people so desparate for delusions they will believe anything, no matter how stupid?
Wait, that accounts for all religion, politics, the WWE. and maybe NASCAR!

Hmm… This looks like a mausoleum. Maybe it should be used for keeping zombies IN, instead of keeping zombies OUT.

I’ve decided that it isn’t fair that only these people should survive the zombie apocalypse, so I’ve started a site to create a zombie proof house of my very own. Â Check it out! Â

To whom it may concern-
We are a steel company located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and in anticipation of the coming Zombie Apocalypse we have rebranded our company to be the world’s only supplier of Zombie Proof Buildings. Instead of making a normal commercial, we have decided to make a zombie horror film showcasing our buildings strength. Check out our page at http://www.ZombieProofBuildings.com and you can watch the YouTube video at: http://youtu.be/O02LCJK9mZ4
Thanks for your time, and stay safe from the undead!!!!!
