With a star-making turn in this year’s Warrior as well as a role in The Thing, actor Joel Edgerton has seen his star rise to insane heights in 2011. And it’s only going up.
The actor is in talks to star in the upcoming film, 300: Battle Of Artemisia. Joining films like The Great Gatsby and The Odd Life Of Timothy Green, Artemisia becomes just another 2012 film that Edgerton will make his indelible mark on.
Noam Murro is set to direct the film, which will look at the Battle Of Marathon, a full 10 years before The Battle Of Thermopylae, which was the back drop for 300. Edgerton will play Thermosticles, the leader of the Greeks who fought the Persians during the battle.
Personally, while I wasn’t the hugest fan of Edgerton in something like The Thing, this is definitely a role the actor could do insanely well in (you might remember Edgerton as the young “Uncle” Owen Lars in the Star Wars prequels). The film itself doesn’t seem to intriguing, but with Edgerton’s involvement, it definitely adds a bit of interest to the otherwise uninteresting project.
What do you think?
