Sons Of Chaos By Chris Jaymes Header

Sons of Chaos
Hardcover | Kindle
Writer: Chris Jaymes
Illustrator: Ale Aragon
Publisher: IDW Publishing
Release date: June 2019

I’m a sucker for a good historical novel. Done right, it can drop you into a time period, introduce you to characters you see as dear friends or bitter enemies, and immerse you into historical events in a deeply meaningful way. The graphic novel Sons of Chaos by writer Chris Jaymes (Party of Five, Chicago Hope, Lost) illuminates the harrowing 19th-century events of the Greek War of Independence through the lens of tragic underdog Marcos Botsaris. Game of Thrones meets 300 in this bleak-yet-epic saga portraying the costs of brutal and anything-but-fair conflict with impressively natural pacing. Massive, lustrous pages serve as a backdrop to the grandiose, fantastical, and occasionally wincingly violent artwork illustrated by Ale Aragon (28 Days Later, Deadpool).

300: Rise of an Empire Header Image

A third trailer has been released for 300: Rise of an Empire, the follow-up/parallel/companion to the 2006 Zack Snyder hit, 300. This new trailer takes a step out of the time the movie is set in, and uses the Black Sabbath classic “War Pigs” to spice things up a bit more.

The movie follows Themistokles (Sullivan Stapleton), as he attempts to lead the Greeks against god-king Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro), his immense Persian army, and the deadly commander of the Persian navy Artemesia (Eva Green) after the victory over Leonidas and his brave 300.

You can read a lengthier description of the movie and watch the new trailer below.

300: Rise of an Empire Artemisia Image

We’ve already seen a two-and-a-half-minute trailer for 300: Rise of an Empire, the much anticipated sequel to Zack Snyder’s 2006 stylized hit about King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) and his brave 300 Spartans. But if you fear a trailer giving away too much and that first trailer is a little lengthy for your taste, here’s another option.

The UK trailer for Rise of an Empire has been released, and it clocks in at only about a minute. The movie follows the Battle of Artemisium, another battle involving the Persians, led by the God-King Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro), that unfolds around the same time that 300‘s Battle of Thermopylae. It sees Xerxes’ commander of the Persian navy Artemisia (Eva Green) doing battle on the seas against Themistokles (Sullivan Stapleton), a Greek general attempting to unite all of Greece. Lena Headey also makes an appearance in the movie and in this trailer, reprising her role as Queen Gorgo.

300: Rise Of An Empire Header

It feels like the sequel to 300 has been in the works forever, but we’re finally close to actually seeing the film, so Warner Bros. came to Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday to show off 300: Rise of an Empire. On stage to talk about the film were director Noam Murro, and actors Eva Green, Rodrigo Santoro, and Sullivan Stapleton.

The panel started with an extended clip from the film, showing the origins of Xerses and the start of the war between Persia and the Greeks. That was followed up with a montage of the battle scenes from the movie, with plenty of sea borne action for the sequel.
