Doctor Who Series 7 - New Trailer and New Image

The Doctor is back, and with the new Seventh Series only a few weeks away, it’s about time that BBC and BBC America have unleashed a brand new Doctor Who trailer. You can check it out at the bottom of this post.

Doctor Who Series 7 is believed to premiere on August 25 this year, with the first half being televised before the Christmas Special, the Christmas Special introducing new companion Clara played by Jenna Louise-Coleman, and then the second half of the season rounding everything up during the first half of 2013.

The BBC America outline for the new season also mentions that:

New guest stars so far confirmed to star will include David Bradley, Rupert Graves and Mark Williams. Season 7 will then see a dramatic turn of events when The Doctor meets a new friend – the recently-announced new companion, played by Jenna-Louse Coleman. Prepare yourselves for thrills, adventures and dramatic surprises as the show builds towards its enormous, climactic 50th anniversary year.

Fourteen big, blockbuster-movie episodes – each a brand new epic adventure featuring new monsters and some familiar foes as you’ve never seen them before.

While the new trailer doesn’t give us a glimpse of Clara, it does however give us a glance at current companions Amy Pond and Rory Williams (Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill) with great prominence, highly emphasizing their departure before the end of the year. Alex Kingston also returns as River Song, while the trailer also is accented with the return of the Daleks and the Weeping Angels.

Interestingly enough, showrunner Steven Moffat has given quite a lot out regarding the Dalek episode – the trailer and promotional poster image feature the Doctor carrying an injured/unconscious Amy, with the Daleks appearing very damn dead at one point. Considering this is somewhat of an obvious conclusion for the episode, it makes me wonder what surprises Moffat has planned for the characters to get to that point.

Doctor Who Series 7 premieres on August 25, with the first episode, Asylum Of The Daleks, starring Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor. At this point it is believed that the USA and the UK will have the same launch date. Enjoy the trailer.

  1. Seems they’ve run out of ideas – Daleks and Weeping Angles…. been there, done that.

  2. I’d say they are out of ideas when the cybermen become present in season 7 or old enemies such as the Quarks start popping up.

  3. That’s like saying Star Trek ran out of ideas because every episode featured a starship, a planet and a crisis. Daleks are a staple. Creativity is defined by what you do with them.

  4. There are too many dinosaurs on this G* D* plane!
