There’s always something extra exciting when you hear about a new western movie being made because they just don’t get made enough these days.
Today comes word of one such exciting new western titled The Brigands of Rattleborge, which will be made from the very best script on the 2006 Black List, written by S. Craig Zahler.
Even more exciting, South Korea’s Chan-wook Park, the man behind the excellent movie currently being remade by Spike Lee, Oldboy, is now in talks to direct.
The Brigands of the Rattleborge tells the story of a gang of bandits who rob the people who live in a small town under the cover of a powerful thunderstorm.
Now, you may be asking why a script from way back in 2006 that was so popular it was voted the best of that year’s Black List has taken so long to actually get made. Well, that would be thanks to the script’s extremely violent content. It’s expected that a major star would need to be cast in order to really make the movie marketable enough to take the risk.
Chan-wook Park just recently wrapped his first English-language film, titled Stoker, and apparently enjoyed it enough to make more.
Red Granite Pictures will finance the movie and co-produce it along with Mythology Entertainment.
