A teaser trailer has been released for Brawl in Cell Block 99, the latest from the writer and director of the horror western Bone Tomahawk, S. Craig Zahler.

The movie stars Vince Vaughn (Old School, True Detective) as a former boxer who, while dealing with a rough spot in life, ends up taking work as a drug courier, which lands him in a nasty prison.

Written and directed by S. Craig Zahler, Bone Tomahawk is a measured, macabre mash-up that’s equal parts The Searchers and The Hills Have Eyes.

When a tribe of cannibalistic cave dwellers kidnaps settlers from the town of Bright Hope, a team of gunslingers, led by Sheriff Franklin Hunt (Kurt Russell), sets out to bring them home. Accompanying the sheriff are “backup deputy” Chicory (Richard Jenkins), haughty Indian-hunter Brooder (Matthew Fox), and Arthur O’Dwyer (Patrick Wilson), whose wife (Lili Simmons) was abducted in the raid.

There’s always something extra exciting when you hear about a new western movie being made because they just don’t get made enough these days.

Today comes word of one such exciting new western titled The Brigands of Rattleborge, which will be made from the very best script on the 2006 Black List, written by S. Craig Zahler.

Even more exciting, South Korea’s Chan-wook Park, the man behind the excellent movie currently being remade by Spike Lee, Oldboy, is now in talks to direct.
