I’m sure that there are many films that people wish they could have watched on the big screen, but couldn’t do so because they missed the theatrical run or they just weren’t born when it was released. I put myself in the category of “wasn’t born when it was released” for David Lean‘s Lawrence of Arabia, starring Peter O’ Toole as the titular character. I remember watching that movie in junior high school, and now it seems like I will get my chance to watch it on the big screen when it will be released in a 4K restoration presentation later this Fall.
Now there is a trailer to display that glory. Check it out here below.
It’s been 50 years since Lawrence of Arabia hit the big screen and to celebrate the film and the release of the 50th Anniversary Collector’s Edition Blu-ray, the film will be hitting major theater chains on October 4th.
The film looks like it will be released back in theaters for one night only. According to Empire, there will be a brief overture and interlude during the movie – the film does run at 227 minutes. So to have a brief interlude during a film is something that is rarely seen nowadays.
So if you enjoy the theatrical experience I encourage you to go out and watch Lawrence of Arabia at the theater on October 4th. It will be one those rare chances to watch this film on the big screen with Maurice Jarre‘s incredible soundtrack booming in the theater.
Thanks to FirstShowing for the heads up on the trailer.
