After the great news that Dragon Age III was officially on the way, a bit of surprising news is being reported.

Dr. Greg Zeschuk and Dr. Ray Muzyka, the pair who co-founded BioWare together back in 1995, have decided to step down from their position as heads of the company. It appears that both gentlemen have decided that it’s simply time to move on to the next chapter of their life, and it doesn’t look as though video games are a part of either of their plans.

Muzyka will be jumping into the world of social and impact investing—investing in and mentoring new entrepreneurs—while Zeschuk, who says he’s simply lost the passion he once had for video games and the challenges they presented, is going to spend a lot of time with his family and friends and get involved in the world of craft beer brewing. Nothing involving beer is ever a bad idea. He does leave the door open for a return to games somewhere down the road if that passion returns, but for now he’s leaving the future clear for whatever might come along.

Together the duo have been part of an impressive slate of video games over the years, including the Baldur’s Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Star Wars: The Old Republic, Dragon Age, and of course, the Mass Effect franchise…just to name a few.
