‘Battlestar Galactica’ Star Katee Sackhoff Joins Gina Carano In All-Female ‘Expendables’

Katee Sackhoff Image

When it was announced that an all-female version of The Expendables was being made, many scratched their head and wondered if it could and would work. Naturally, a large part of its potential success was going to depend on whether or not they could put together a cast equal to the awesomeness that was the cast that was put together for The Expendables and its sequel.

Thankfully, things are off to a good start. The first cast member reported was former American Gladiator and MMA superstar Gina Carano, who recently stepped into the role of bad ass action movie star for the movie Haywire. Now comes word that geek goddess Katee Sackhoff has also signed on.

Sackhoff is best known as Starbuck from the hit TV series Battlestar Galactica, and will also soon be seen in the upcoming third movie in the Chronicles of Riddick series.

Producer Adi Shankar, who also was a producer on The Grey, Dredd, and the upcoming Killing Them Softly, said of Sackhoff:

“If you spend five minutes with Katee it becomes blatantly obvious that she would pwn (sic) most male action stars.”

This currently untitled movie will only be inspired by The Expendables in using a cast of notable action stars to make the movie; it won’t actually be affiliated with the movie itself.

Are you starting to get excited about an all-female version of The Expendables? Or do you need to see more castings?

  1. Looking forward to the possibility of a good movie being made. Other possible cast members to consider include Michelle Rodriguez, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Milla Jovovich, Uma Thurman, Pam Grier, and Geena Davis.

  4. I’d pay to see it. And I can think of a lot of female action stars who would be great for a film like this.

  5. pwn doesn’t need a ‘sic’. It’s the correct word used correctly.

  6. Summer Glau is a pretty good choice and she can act.
She’s not too big that she would be overbearing but she has played River Tam on Joss Whedon’s Serenity and Cameron in Terminator The Sarah Connor Chronicles, two of the most iconic characters in recent sci-fi history.

  7. Woah! Pam Grier would be awesome! Same for Uma and Milla, and I’d like to throw Michelle Yeoh, Grace Jones and Kate Beckinsale in the mix. Maybe Emily Browning or Jennifer Lawrence?

  8. Pretty cool. I’ll save my real excitement when Lucy Lawless is cast though.
