The MacGruber film was one of the selected few SNL skits that made it on to the silver screen. And as much of flop as it was commercially, the film some how found its way into gaining a cult following.

Despite that, the film has been unable to find the necessary financing to fund a sequel. Well Will Forte believes that MacGruber 2 will rises from the ashes and some how some way come back in “some form” or another.

Speaking to EW, Forte said:

Well based on the Veronica Mars crowd funding success, he may not have to resort to filming in backyards using handheld camcorders, although that might be some fun. Forte added that MacGruber director Jorma Taccone explored the idea of funding a sequel using Kickstarter long before the Veronica Mars one was a success.

So Forte’s hopes are high, but other than that, there is really nothing to add on the ongoing – or should I say slow going development – of MacGruber 2.
