WB Fast-Tracking ‘Man Of Steel 2’ & ‘Justice League’ By Bringing Back David Goyer

Man of Steel Header

Judging by all the positive buzz that is now circling Zack Snyder‘s Man of Steel, it should come as no surprise that WB is putting the development of its sequel into overdrive. The good news comes with even more good news as the studio is also looking to get a Justice League film in the works as soon as possible. All of this could not have been possible if David Goyer wasn’t working on the project, so now WB has brought him back to write the script for Man of Steel 2, and reportedly to write Justice League as well.

Lets start with Man of Steel 2. Deadline reports that in addition to Goyer’s return, Snyder will also be coming back to direct its sequel. I haven’t seen the film yet, so I can’t speculate what the follow-up could entail, but hearing that there was a building with Lex Luthor’s name teased and a Wayne Enterprise product teased, we could see something related to one or two of those things in the sequel.

The news seems to coincide with what Snyder had said last week about a Justice League film.

Look “¦ completely hypothetically, I feel like you need to get Superman a little further down the road, I think, before you can do a Justice League movie.

A giant superhero ensemble film after one solo hero film makes very little sense, as the audiences need to get acquainted with the heroes in question, which seems to make very little sense with Batman, given that we’ve seen three films based on the character in the past few years, but that’s an entirely different story. We’ll have to see what WB’s next play is, and which character they will introduce for their next DC hero solo film.

Now on to Justice League. As previously mentioned, making a Justice League film is all about the set up. And it appears that WB is setting up for a pretty big film. During the Man Of Steel‘s premiere in New York, Deadline revealed that Goyer had signed a three-picture contract that includes Man of Steel, its sequel, and the Justice League film. Think of it as a mini-version of the contract that Joss Whedon signed with Marvel. But it’s not the contract that Goyer signed that made waves, it’s what he said.

Kel from LatinoReview tweeted this out:

That’s quite a statement! Remember Will Beall wrote a draft for the film that was scrapped by the studio. The fact that Goyer is reportedly contracted to write it seems to confirm that notion.
