Before Ben McKenziegot the lead role of James Gordon in Fox’s upcoming DC Comic drama Gotham, Donal Logue was considered for the role, a rumor that he denied.
He wasn’t out of the Gotham casting news for very long, however, as the actor was offered the part of Detective Harvey Bullock. This rumor was on the mill for while, and has now been confirmed by Variety.
While the reports confirm that Logue will appear as the iconic DC detective, there is no word on what kind of Bullock we will see. In the animated series he is portrayed as a gruff and tough detective who doesn’t play by the rules but gets the job done, and isn’t particular fond of Batman. He never officially appeared in any of the live-action films, but characters from Batman Begins and The Dark Knight shared the same characteristics as Bullock, but those were slightly more corrupt than their animation counterpart.
Let’s hope that we get the rough, tough, and gruff Detective Bullock, as we never got to see that character fully realized in any of the live-action films.
