A solo Incredible Hulk film has been one of the toughest nuts to crack. The first two solo films didn’t help establish the green beast as a franchise hero, but once played by Mark Ruffalo in The Avengers, audiences were clamoring for a new Hulk solo film to happen. At times we’ve heard nothing about a Hulk solo film, other times we would hear there would be none.
Consider this latest bit to fall in neither category, just don’t get too optimistic about it. Ruffalo has confirmed that there are talks of churning out at least one Hulk solo film in the near future. Hit the jump for more and to see a video of the chat with Ruffalo.
Digital Spy had a chance to talk to the actor about the possibility of a Hulk film, and here is what he had to say:
“I think they are, for the first time, entertaining the idea of it. When we did The Avengers it was basically “˜No!’, and now there is some consideration for it. But there’s still nothing definitive, not even a skeletal version of what it would be. I look forward to going down that road, if we could crack that nut.”
Hulk is a huge part of the Avengers, so it’s only fair that we get to explore more of his story throughout the arcs of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Seeing him in only Avengers films will only limit his time with the audience, and will not expand on the character’s long history.
Age Of Ultron could provide some sort of basis for a Hulk solo film, should it ever happen — it just depends on what he does in the sequel and how his actions in it will affect Phase 3.
Avengers: Age Of Ultron opens in theaters on May 1, 2015.
I don’t hold out much hope but can you imagine what Mark Ruffalo would do with that film? I would watch the hell out of a hulk film with a guy who actually understood the character in the titular role
