Lip Sync Battle

Woohoo! That’s how you do a lip sync show! Thursday night’s Lip Sync Battle pitted Malin Akerman Vs. Stephen Merchant, and the competition was fierce. Akerman brought the severely sexy, and Merchant brought the “I wish I was sexy.” But you know what? He is so funny that it is kinda sexy.

Touted as the veteran of the show, he definitely has the advantage. Executive producer Merchant invented the game along with executive producer John Krasinski and Emily Blunt, first appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where it took off.

The first round found Malin Akerman rocking to Def Leppard’s “Pour Some Sugar On Me.” In a slinky black catsuit and hot red lipstick, she gyrated, she crotch grabbed, she dropped to her knees, and DIDN’T sing that song with all her might. She rivaled Anna Kendrick’s “Booty” and Anne Hathaway jumping on a “Wrecking Ball” in her underwear.

Stephen Merchant performed “Hero” by Enrique Iglesias, because when people look at him they think of “sex symbol.” So good! He is so earnest. Host LL Cool J and Akerman could not stop giggling. Me neither, especially when he started using the crazy eyes and lip syncing in Spanish.

Malin Ã…kerman’s Pour Some Sugar on Me vs. Stephen Merchant’s Hero | Lip Sync Battle

The battle is on again this week with Stephen Merchant and Malin Ã…kerman. Malin shocks her opponent with a vulgar rendition of “Pour Some Sugar on Me” by Def Leppard. Stephen retaliates with a charming performance of “Hero” by Enrique Iglesias.

LL Cool J:”I mean you really are a latin lover.”
Merchant: “Have you been reading my journal again?”

The next round had Akerman twerking and smacking her backup dancers ass to “Talk Dirty To Me” by Jason Derulo.

LL Cool J: “I like your style. You looked like you jumped in my closet or something!”
Color Commentator Chrissy Teigen: She’s the most adorable gangster I’ve ever seen! She looks like if American Girl Dolls made like a “Thug Samantha.”

Stephen Merchant came out in a cage wearing chaps, lip syncing to “Dirrty” by Christina Aguilera. You just can’t unsee that.

The battle gets dirty with Malin Ã…kerman’s incredible performance of “Talk Dirty” by Jason Derülo. Stephen Merchant throws it right back with a nasty rendition of “Dirrty” by Christina Aguilera.

Merchant: “LL… if you wanna stay in this game, you gotta give the people what they want.”
LL Cool J: “You under-promised and over-delivered baby.”

He pulls a pair of socks out of his pants and tosses it to Teigen who smells it. This show is nuts!

And the winner is…

Stephen Merchant on his Lip Sync Win

Stephen Merchant got down and dirty and came out a champion. What did Stephen think of his win?

Lip Sync Battle airs Thursday nights at 10pm ET on Spike TV.
