Rise of the Tomb Raider

We saw our first good look at Rise of the Tomb Raider, the sequel to the hit 2013 reboot of the franchise, during E3 2015 last week.

Now a much longer 14-minute gameplay demo has been released to really give those who are planning to play an idea of what to expect. It sees Lara Croft dealing with a harsh and freezing mountain forest, and showcases various gameplay elements such as collecting resources, crafting, combat, and stealth. Basically if you’re already sick of sticky summer humidity, this video is perfect for re-igniting your appreciation for shorts weather.

Continue below now to watch the video.

While searching for a lost city in Siberia, Lara and her friend Jonah become separated when a massive avalanche triggers during a storm. Lara must scavenge resources, forge weapons, and gain an advantage over Trinity forces in pursuit of the secret she seeks. Discover the legend within.

All in all the game looks pretty similar to the last game, just in a much colder and snowier and icier location, which certainly adds a layer of distress to the survival side of things. This is likely due to the fact that it’s also being developed for the previous generation of gaming consoles, something you don’t see very often anymore. Don’t get me wrong, it still looks great; it’s just likely not going to look as shiny and next-geny as many were hoping it would.

It’s been said that making it for the previous generation will have no negative effect on the current generation version, but I have trouble believing that. Those of you with better eyes than I can judge for yourself below and share your thoughts. Are you okay with this new release being similar to the last game in overall quality, or are you looking for more of a “next-gen” Tomb Raider experience?

Either way, Rise of the Tomb Raider looks like another intense adventure. The game will be released on November 10th, and you can pre-order it for Xbox One and Xbox 360 now.
