Ewan McGregor to Play Danny Torrance in The Shining Sequel

Young Danny Torrance from Stephen King‘s horror classic The Shining is all grown up in the author’s sequel, Doctor Sleep. And now an actor has been chosen to play adult Danny in the film adaptation of that sequel.

The Shining Image (1980)

An official release date for author Stephen King‘s sequel to the classic 1977 horror novel, The Shining, has been set by Scribner and Hodder & Stoughton.

The Shining (1980)

It seems that Stephen King has been hard at work on a sequel to his epic 1977 tome of supernatural terror The Shining (which was made into a classic horror film in 1980 by Stanley Kubrick starring Jack Nicholson in one of his most iconic performances) called Doctor Sleep. Last Friday King appeared at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA, to accept the Mason Award at the school’s Fall for the Book event and during his appearance he entertained his audience by reading a chapter from the forthcoming novel. You can watch a video of the reading here below.

King made the subtle announcement while in Toronto reading some of his new book Under the Dome to a crowd at the Canon Theater. The writer was in no way announcing that a sequel would indeed happen, but he decided to share the ideas that he was actually playing around with in his head, including that he had a basic title in mind already: Doctor Sleep.
