The Marvel Knights: Inhumans movie has been released. It is an adaptation of the 12 issue Marvel Knights comic written by Paul Jenkins with art by Jae Lee. Come ponder with me the reasoning of the king of the Inhumans, Black Bolt, as he navigates the politics of humans and near gods.

This Shout! Factory release is a motion comic. I can’t say that I was entirely pleased by that prospect. A lot of motion comics take away from the internal experience of reading comics. And the limited motion does no favors to the animation genre. For a long time, the motion comic did nothing for me. Then the Spider-Woman: Agent of S.W.O.R.D., Iron Man: Extremis, and the Astonishing X-Men: Gifted series were released and changed my opinion of this new medium to a more positive outlook. That is when I figured out subtlety is the key to a good motion comic execution.

With the upcoming Jonah Hex live- action film (out in theaters on June 18) starring Josh Brolin and Megan Fox, it seems like the perfect time to visit some adventures from Mr. Hex’s past. Warner Premiere believes the best way to do that is to buy their 8th motion comic, Jonah Hex Motion Comics.

Based on the comics written by John Albano and drawn by Tony DeZuniga, these new Jonah Hex Motion Comics are perfect for all you western lovers out there. If you recall, Warner Premiere is the same company that brought us both the Batman: Black and White and Watchmen Motion Comics series.

Over the course of 7 episodes, which will lead up to the theatrical release, the Motion Comics specifically cover three archival stories from Jonah Hex’s comics past. The first five episodes are adapted from the graphic novel Two Gun Mojo, which features Jonah Hex seeking justice and revenge against Doc Williams and his gang over a murdered friend. The other two stories are taken from the 1970’s comics The Gunfighter and The Hangin’ Woman. Viewers should be aware these stories are re-colored and animated for the first time.

Fans of Marvel’s previous motion comics (Astonishing X-Men and Spider-Woman) will be happy to know another is on the way.

Hot on the heels of the Iron Man 2 hype, the next motion comic will be Iron Man Extreme, which looks like it will be an adaptation of the Extremis story arc by Warren Ellis and Adi Granov. Fans will no doubt remember the Extremis story for its influence on the 2008 Iron Man film by Jon Favreau.

Robot 6 discovered this news in a Chicago Sun-Times interview with Marvel executives Ira Rubenstein and Tom Brevoort about the publisher’s digital-publishing initiatives.

Marvel said they will begin selling digital “In-Motion” comic books through iTunes later this month, according to Marvel’s Digital Media Division, which announced the debut of their Motion Comics products at the New York Comic Con last weekend.

The “Motion” Comics will feature animated “smart” panels and spoken dialog — not to be confused with Digital Comics of classic stories in print, which is a separate product available exclusively through Marvel.com’s Digital Comic Subscription service.

Assuming Motion Comics are sold as TV shows or movies, this clarification actually makes more sense since iTunes does not have a category for documents. However, if Marvel ever decided to open up sales of their digital comics, such a category would be necessary.
