We’ve been seeing quite a bit of Futurama lately, which is wonderful but also a little surprising considering that the show officially ended…yet again…in 2013 when Comedy Central pulled the plug after another run of episodes. First there was that live-action fan film, which didn’t feature the stars of the animated series but was still an impressive accomplishment. Then came word of a new mobile game called Worlds of Tomorrow, which would not only deliver new animation but also reunite the voice cast. Not the new seasons of episodes everyone desperately wishes some network or streaming service will order someday, but it was something to hold us over!
Now comes another Futurama treat. To help promote that very same mobile game, a double episode of the show was produced in collaboration with Nerdist. In order to make this happen, they bypassed all the time and money necessary to animate episodes, and instead made it a radio play featuring the voice cast of the show.
