‘Terminator: Dark Fate’ Gets R Rating, Extended Red Band TV Spot Released

Back at San Diego Comic-Con 2019 we saw a behind the scenes featurette for Terminator: Dark Fate which made it seem like the franchise was finally returning to its R-rated roots. But we’ve been told such things before. Way back in 2008 when the fourth entry in the franchise, Terminator Salvation, was on the way, director McG told us that he had been given the blessing to deliver an R-rated movie, but ultimately it ended up being PG-13. And of course, we all know about Terminator Genisys.
But now it’s official: the next Terminator movie has been rated R by the MPAA. It is the first to be given the honor since the third entry in the series, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. And to mark the occasion, a NSFW extended red band TV spot has been released to show off a little of that R-rated goodness. You can check it out below.

SDCC 2019: ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’ Featurette Goes Back To R-Rated Roots

The Terminator franchise just hasn’t been the same since Terminator 2: Judgement Day. With key creative and performing players missing, it seemed like it would meet a dark fate. However, director Tim Miller and producer James Cameron promise that Terminator: Dark Fate will be different.
Not only are they bringing back Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor, Arnold Schwarzenegger as the T-800, and Edward Furlong as John Connor, but the film will also be a “relentless” and “white-knuckle” actioner going back to the franchise’s R-rated roots. Check out the featurette below.

SDCC 2019: ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’ Will Bring Back Edward Furlong As John Connor

Time travel can be a very fickle thing. There are no one set of rules that anyone abides by. And that is pretty clear in Terminator: Dark Fate, which not only brings back a seasoned Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) and an aged T-800 unit (Arnold Schwarzenegger), as well as John Connor himself. But this time, it will be Edward Furlong, who originated the on-screen character in Terminator 2: Judgement Day.
The news broke today during Paramount’s panel for Terminator: Dark Fate at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.

Terminator 2 remains one of the most important films of my life. Nine years old in 1991, the TV ads for it drove me into a frenzy and my dad’s bad judgment or not allowed me to watch the original before taking me to see T2 in theaters on opening weekend. It was the first movie I ever saw multiple times in theaters, and 27 years later it still holds up as one of the greatest films of all time. It is a masterpiece of action set pieces, drama, music and violence. Titanic and Avatar be damned, THIS is James Cameron‘s magnum opus. Now there is new 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray bundle available, giving home viewers the chance to enjoy one of the most epic films in the most epic way.

Mackenzie Davis In Talks To Join ‘Terminator’ Reboot Cast

The popularity of the Terminator film franchise has somewhat diminished thanks to the poor reception the sequels have gotten after Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Despite that, the interest in the robot apocalypse is still there. And it will live on now in a brand new reboot from Deadpool director Tim Miller at the helm and James Cameron acting as producer. In addition to that, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton will also be returning to reprise their roles as the robotic killing machine and revolutionist against the machine oppression.
Now it has been confirmed that Blade Runner 2049 star Mackenzie Davis is in negotiations to join the cast. But she won’t be playing a character you think she will be playing. More on the story below.
