Acclaimed film director Steven Spielberg is teaming up with writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (Fringe, Star Trek), as well as Josh Friedman (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) to bring one of my favorite comic books, Joe Hill & Gabriel Rodriguez‘s Locke & Key, to the TV screen.
Since I’ve been reading the comic book series, I’ve constantly felt the story would make a great mini-series, movie, or TV show, so it’s great to see some validation there. The comic book centers around a family that is constantly being forced into terrible situations ranging from death, alcoholism, the supernatural, and how they deal with each problem. It’s a fascinating book, and I cannot wait for more eyes to be focused on this amazing story penned by Joe Hill.
But what do you guys think? Will the series be ruined by television, or do you think it’ll be great? I’m personally expecting a cross between Supernatural and what we’ve seen from AMC’s The Walking Dead.

I haven’t read the comic but from your description it sounds like it could work for television. Also that is a pretty solid team of people to have behind a project.

prob not enough material yet for a show of any real length, great comic though.
not sure how this compares to supernatural seeing there’s only one antagonist….and 90% of the cast is in highschool or younger…

Locke & Key has been my favorite comic book since issue 1, and easily in the top 5 comics currently in production. Joe and Gabe are absolute geniuses when it comes to storytelling. If this project is in the hands of the likes of Spielberg, Kurtzman, Orci and Friedman, it won’t matter what screen it’s on, big or small. It’s going to be epic…
