Not too long ago it was reported that director Darren Aronofsky was looking at Russell Crowe to play Noah in his take on the biblical tale of Noah’s Ark, which was followed by Crowe himself expressing interest in taking the role on.
Now comes word that Crowe has entered into more official negotiations to join the cast of the movie—simply called Noah, for the time being—in the title role.
In the movie Crowe would play a man who loves this planet and all of its creatures, but who doesn’t like the way that humans are treating it.
Considering that there wasn’t a whole lot of pollution going on back in biblical times, does this mean Aronofsky’s vision of the story will be more modern, and would that be a good or bad thing?
Crowe’s upcoming appearances include the role of Superman’s father, Jor-El, in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, and he’s also in talks to play the villain in producer Akira Goldsman’s debut as a director, Winter’s Tale.
