FOX is at out making friends once again, this time deciding to cancel the Steven Spielberg-produced prehistoric drama Terra Nova after just one season.
Because of the show’s massive size (259 sets built in Australia and an lengthy production time) executives were forced to make a decision on it earlier than usual so that if they did decide to give it a season two, there would be time to get it made.
But for you die hard fans of the show, this might not necessarily be the end, as has been the case for so many other fans of various FOX shows over the years. Apparently the company is reaching out to potential outlets who might be able to keep the show running…one of which is making a habit of it.
Netflix, the one-time passionately hated streaming video and DVD/Blu-ray-by-mail service who made FOX-level enemies after raising prices multiple times, is said to be in very early talks with FOX about possibly saving Terra Nova‘s life.
If a deal can be reached, it would mark the second FOX show that Netflix has saved after they swooped in like a superhero and resurrected fan-favorite Arrested Development.
It’s still too early to know what will happen, but once again, Netflix is proving to be a guardian angel to dead and near-dead TV shows.
Which once again begs the all-important question: with a second possible FOX show in their sights, when will Netflix take that boldest of steps and take on the deadest of them all, Firefly, and replace the desperate pleas of a Browncoat army with wide-eyed Christmas morning joy?
That’s our question, Netflix—only you can answer.
What are your thoughts on the cancellation of Terra Nova, and do you want to see it saved by Netflix?

I hate you Fox, now more than ever.
My respect for Netflix is coming back after learning how they “saved” Arrested Development.

I know this is trolling, but I was excited about the show and the show sucks. It’s terrible. Not a huge loss.

Shocker !! Fox cancells yet another sci fi show. I don’t understand why anyone with a science fiction show would even think of going to Fox. Their record speaks for itself. Space Above and Beyond , Firefly , Dollhouse ….etc, etc . Â

They have so many other crappy shows on FOX, why cancel your most original show? It seems to me that if they would do away with some of the other crap, they could put those funds towards Tera Nova. I hope another network or company like Netflix pics them up, it was a good, family friendly, orinigal show.

I guess I’m gonna have to renew my netflix membership after all, but not until the decision has been made.
