Terra Nova

FOX is at out making friends once again, this time deciding to cancel the Steven Spielberg-produced prehistoric drama Terra Nova after just one season.

Because of the show’s massive size (259 sets built in Australia and an lengthy production time) executives were forced to make a decision on it earlier than usual so that if they did decide to give it a season two, there would be time to get it made.

But for you die hard fans of the show, this might not necessarily be the end, as has been the case for so many other fans of various FOX shows over the years. Apparently the company is reaching out to potential outlets who might be able to keep the show running…one of which is making a habit of it.

If you’re one of the millions and millions who watched last night’s Super Bowl, you saw the many commercials and movie trailers that were shown off. And if you didn’t watch, you can see all of the big trailers right here at Geeks of Doom, of course.

Another big first look was also shown last night, but this time it was for an upcoming TV series: Terra Nova. The show comes from executive producer Steven Spielberg, and tells the story of a family who travel back in time 85 million years through a portal created by scientists in the year 2149, where life on Earth is facing extinction. The family goes through the portal to the first human colony — called Terra Nova — where they will attempt to set humankind off in a better direction, but will have to deal with some major obstacles, including dinosaurs.

You can see the first trailer for Terra Nova, which is set to debut this fall on Fox, by clicking on over to the other side now!

Prehistoric

A possible new TV series from 20th Century Fox is gaining some major buzz. The show is called Terra Nova, and the network is currently in negotiations with Peter Chernin and Steven Spielberg to join them as executive producers of the proposed series.

Not a lot is known about Terra Nova yet, but it is described a show that revolves around a family from 100 years in the future who somehow are transported back 150 Million years to prehistoric times.

The description obviously sounds immediately like a premise for a Land of the Lost reboot, but sources indicate that the show will actually be of massive scale, and that epic sets and top-tier special effects would make it an exceptionally expensive show to produce. Because of the price tag and what would be required to produce even one show, Fox is actually considering just greenlighting an entire season right off the bat instead of spending the money for one pilot episode simply on hopes that it will test highly.
