Lucasfilm Animation is currently putting the finishing touches on their new animated series, Star Wars: Rebels, and is gearing up for a release sometime later this year on the Disney Channel. The series is set at approximately 14 years after Revenge of the Sith and will document the Empire’s tightening stranglehold on the galaxy and the hunt for the last Jedi remnants.
In anticipation of the show, six new posters using classic propaganda motifs have just been released which you can check out below. The posters heavily promote many of the classic Star Wars original trilogy characters and starship designs of the Empire including TIE Fighters, Star Destroyers, and Stormtroopers. One poster prominently displays the series villain, which is a new character for the Star Wars universe, the Imperial Inquisitor, who will be charged by Darth Vader to hunt down the remaining Jedi Knights.
Another poster proudly displays “Protecting Lothal, Protecting You”. Lothal is a new planet for the Star Wars universe where much of the series will take place. Thanks to StarWars.com we know that Lothal is
“¦a poor planet that initially welcomes the Empire on the promise of security and prosperity. It soon becomes obvious however, that the Empire does not have Lothal’s best interests at heart, as the Imperials exploit its people and begin recruiting young citizens to join TIE fighter and Stormtrooper academies, or to work in the Sienar Fleet Systems factory “” which builds TIE fighters “” in the planet’s capital.
Sounds like a great place to begin a rebellion! For now, check out the propaganda posters below, and stay tuned for more updates on when we’ll be seeing Star Wars: Rebels premiere.
