Abracadabra! Cue the magical finger gestures! The Magicians season 2 is almost upon us, and with it … the newest trailer. SyFy’s spellbinding series ended with a shock, as most of our Brakebills clan seemed to die, but no worries. Beautiful people with powers can never stay down for long.

The trailer gives us a peek at our crafty young people “becoming kings and queens,” and struggling with adulthood (sometimes with coping jokes). We see Quentin brought back to life, the white lady, and Elliot being my awesome favorite, as per usual. This season promises even more crazy realm jumping, spellcasting, and Dean Fogg (Rick Worthy) acting as the Giles (from Buffy the Vampire Slayer).

The Magicians returns January 25th at 9:00pm ET on SyFy.

Season 2 synopsis:

Heading into Season 2, this group of unlikely heroes have been thrust into even more dangerous and unfamiliar territory, and must draw upon their novice skills to defeat a threat that could destroy the magical world itself. Driven by power, revenge and survival, they learn that those who entered the hauntingly beautiful world of Fillory will never be the same as those who leave. Magic is dying. With our characters transported to the magical kingdom of Fillory – and named Kings and Queens of the land to boot – can they save magic? Oh, and there’s still the Beast to deal with, don’t forget. Meanwhile, Julia is on a no-holds-barred revenge quest against the evil God that attacked her.
