Finally some news about the long in-development Captain America movie that isn’t a rumor! Joe Johnston has officially signed on to direct First Avenger: Captain America for Marvel Studios.
Johnston’s biggest directing gigs are movies like Jumanji, October Sky, Jurassic Park III, and Hidalgo. His newest movie is the Universal remake of The Wolfman, which has a lot of positive feedback behind it. He’s also done high profile visual effects work on The Empire Strikes Back, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Return of the Jedi.

This will also be another tie-in to The Avengers movie, which is coming out in 2011, so expect to see Captain America a few weeks prior on May 6, 2011.

Who other than Americans will line up for this?
