EW has posted the first look of the USS Enterprise from JJ Abrams‘ upcoming Star Trek.
Back in January, the first photo of the iconic starship was revealed, but it was only a partial shot of the ship, shown under construction. Abrams and Co were sensible enough not to mess with the memorable saucer design of the original NCC-1701 by combining the TV series’ Enterprise with that of the movie franchise’s to create a “new yet familiar Enterprise.” “If you’re going to do Star Trek there are many things you cannot change. The Enterprise is a visual touchstone for so many people. So if you’re going to do the Enterprise, it better look like the Enterprise, because otherwise, what are you doing?”

There are two things in this world I love: Zombies and Video Games. If you figure out a way to put those two things together then you might as well alert my employer to deduct the money directly from my paycheck and send it to you.
On that note, with today marking the release of Call of Duty: World at War (CoD 5 to those in the know), the good people out there who send us good things that tickle out geek fancy (you know who you are) decided to tease me with video of an unlockable zombie mode that pits you and up to three of your CoD buddies against an army of the undead. Genius, I tell you! Yeah, yeah. Go ahead and call me biased, but since I already wanted this game huge strong-bad, news of this Zombie mode does nothing but make the saliva glands go into Pavlovian overdrive. Check out the official word and video linkage here after the jump.

| DVD Review: Hellboy II: The Golden Army (Blu-ray) |
 Hellboy II: The Golden Army
Blu-ray Edition
Directed by Guillermo del Toro
Starring Ron Perlman, Selma Blair, Doug Jones, Luke Goss
Universal Home Entertainment
Release date: November 11, 2008
When looking at visionary director Guillermo del Toro’s film versions of Mike Mignola‘s Hellboy, it important to remember one key point — this ISN’T the same Hellboy universe that Mignola created being put onto film. It differs in tone, story, and execution, and that’s not a disservice to the world that Mignola has created; in fact, it’s at his insistence. You see, one stipulation to Mignola allowing the Hellboy character to be used in different mediums is that each medium stand on its own as a different version of Hellboy. That means that the comic differs from the animated movies, and the animated movies differ from the live-action films. Certain key points remain the same: Hellboy is a demon summoned to Earth to bring about its destruction, he denounces his “destiny” and works for the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense, and he is friends and partners at the B.P.R.D. with the fire starter Liz Sherman and the amphibious Abe Sapien. But from that point on, the three different sets of tales shift. And so it is only with the ability to divorce oneself from the masterful comics that Mignola has crafted that one is truly able to enjoy the other versions of Hellboy being presented.
