Deadpool Spin-Off Movie Finally Confirmed

Deadpool

Before his appearance in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, there were plenty of talks about doing a movie based on the fan-favorite character of Deadpool. Now, right on the heels of the announcement that Hugh Jackman is developing a sequel to Wolverine, it’s being reported that Deadpool is in fact also in development.

While some hardcore fans aren’t big on Ryan Reynolds in the role, most fans seem to like the look and enjoy his ability to drop well-timed sarcastic remarks. The huge question here is: who makes the movie and what will it cover? One of the mammoth dislikes that fans seem to have about the new Wolverine, is what they did with Deadpool. Will they carry over what they did in that movie, or is this going to be a completely new Deadpool venture?

One positive hope you can take with you is the words of a source at Fox who describes the project as “…a complete exploration of this unique character “” his origins, his emergence as the Merc with the Mouth.”

The character of Deadpool is very much similar to Wolverine. They were both products of the Weapon X program, and using a little Wolverine extract, they were able to cure Deadpool’s cancer and also give him those helpful healing abilities. While Wolverine isn’t really the talkative type, Deadpool went on to become a mercenary and receive the above-mentioned nickname, the Merc with the Mouth because of his sarcastic and smart ass comments as well as his love of pop culture references.

This project will have to be handled with extreme care. With fans already in an uproar over certain things related to the character, there’s not much breathing room to work with; most die hard fans will be expecting to see mistakes remedied and the Deadpool from comics that they know and love so much. If they do it right, they could have a very cool new franchise on their hands.

  1. Great, just what the world needs – another Daredevil. At least they can’t do too much worse….

  2. Has anyone but me figured out that the Deadpool in the movie wasn’t Dead

pool but actually the mimic? If you hey that isn’t me ending that I did it makes sense especially with him having everyone elses powers in the climax

  3. but deadpool was correct, save for the power of cyclops’ optic blasts and the fact that he was not born in that time period

and if they were to make a spin-off for deadpool, ryan reynolds could replay as him. he didn’t do that bad. he did better than hugh jackman that’s for sure. i was quite disappointed. and what was up with him yelling at the sky for half the movie.

  4. Ok everyone. Enough with the Mimic idea. I seem to be reading it everywhere. Just face it. The thing at the end of this crapfest of a movie was Fox’s version of Deadpool. Fox has absolutely no idea what to do with these characters. If they are in charge of a Deadpool movie, it will suck just as bad as Wolverine did, and I won’t be seeing it. Marvel Studios needs to take back this franchise NOW before anymore damage is done to it. A complete reboot is all that can save it now. I wonder if Fox has picked a director for this yet? I bet Joel Schumacher is available.

  5. Deadpool, I understand your frustration but if Marvel gets the rights to Deadpool, there is no chance at all that the violence will be where it needs to be. Same with Wolverine. No chance at all for an R rating.

  6. Yeah but if you think about it in the scene after the credits(bonus scene)Deadpools blads looked loose they could have been ripped out or they could fall out in the new movie. When Wolverine cut off his head there was a sparkle in the four head of Deadpool and the four head is where most of the mutants powers are kept and in the bonus scene Deadpools eyes weren’t red so that=Good old Deadpool!!!
