Ever since it was announced back in January that Henry Cavill would be the new Superman in Zack Snyder’s franchise reboot, people have wondered what the Tudors star would look like as the Man of Steel. There have been photoshopped images of the actor in the suit, and photos of Cavill from last month’s San Diego Comic-Con have been popping up with the claim that he’s sporting his Superman haircut (which I think is a bit of a stretch).
The wait to see Cavill don the suit is finally over, as Warner Bros. has released the first official photo of the actor in costume from Man Of Steel. Check out the full, larger photo here below.
In the photo, Cavill has the classic Superman slicked-back hair (but no visible spit curl) and the suit is muted primary colors with a scaled pattern. The image appears to be an action shot of Superman — with a very serious face — crushing a bank vault.
While Man Of Steel hits theaters on June 14, 2013, the film was originally scheduled for release in December 2012, so it’s not surprising that the first look has been released so far in advance. The film is directed by Zack Snyder, and stars Cavill along with Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Russell Crowe, and Laurence Fishburne.
So, what do you think of Cavill as Superman? Does he have the right look? Is this what you imagined for the new movie?
No problem with the suit. Think it looks great. Something about his hair/face just don’t look right. He sort of doesn’t look very ‘American’. Superman for me has got to be All-American wholesome chizzled sort of look. This ain’t doing it for me. :(

Are those more fish scales that I see? Why? I don’t get why superhero outfits in movies need to be textured in such a way. At least it’s not as senseless as in Spider-Man.
Apparently Zack Snyder has decided to make Supe’s hair as indestructible as the rest of his body.

If this is a test shot, then they have time to fix this.
Right now, this sucks. From the muted colors, the hair and the look…
FAIL.

I can get behind this! At least he’s not wearing jeans and work boots.

Also prefer brighter colors.Â

Apparently the scales were added for texture. I guess normal clothing will look bland on everyone’s Blu-ray.
