Unless you’ve been living under a rock, then you know of the success of The Avengers this week. If not, well let’s just get the Hulk to get that extra weight off your back. According to box office returns, The Avengers gross over $200 million in its domestic opening weekend. That’s nothing to scoff at really, and with its success came the talk of the inevitable sequel and which characters will be featured in the next Avengers (see our Assembling The Avengers Sequel piece).
Of course one of the most prominent members of The Avengers who wasn’t featured in the film was Henry Pym aka Ant-Man. Now if you don’t know already, Edgar Wright has been working on the adaptation of Ant-Man for quite some time now, and it appears we are getting closer to seeing that movie come to the big screen.
So in response to the status of the Ant-Man feature, Wright went to twitter to tweet an image he received in the mail. You can view the image below.
Honestly it looks like Olly Moss had a hand in this piece. Wright doesn’t say who sent it to him, who worked on it, or what it means. Regardless, it is a nice gesture by Wright to let everyone know that Ant-Man is coming.
When talking about the status of the Ant-Man movie, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said:
It’s somewhere. I’ll just say it’s closer than it’s ever been in its long maybe eight year history, and I usually e-mail Edgar every two or three days and over those eight years its got further away and closer”¦ we are now closer than we’ve ever been. So I hope it will come together shortly.
Wright does have a lot on his plate though. He is finally starting on The World’s End and The Night Stalker. But if we are to see The Avengers 2 in two years time, then we probably could be seeing the Ant-Man movie sooner than later.
