Some of the shows that HBO has had in the past ended too quickly. Deadwood, Carnivale, and Bored to Death are just to name a few, and while the first two will most likely never hit the big screen, the third could happen. That’s right Bored to Death could get the feature film treatment.
For those who don’t get HBO (including myself) they had to suffer through the wait of it appearing on DVD shelves. But if you still don’t know what Bored to Death is, the show is a modern day noir comedy set in New York. It starred Jason Schwartzman, Ted Danson, and Zach Galifianakis.
But back to the possibility that Bored to Death could be hitting theaters. Vulture came across an interview with Ted Danson by French journalist Pierre Langlas at the Monte Carlo Television Festival. During the interview, Danson revealed that a 90-minute movie for Bored to Death was very likely to happen.
A rep at HBO confirmed that there were conversations about the subject, but they were in the every early stages of development.
While I had hoped to see movies for Deadwood and Carnivale when they were cancelled, that possibility immediately got shot down as the years progressed. But that was the initial thought when they spoke of an Arrested Development movie. Talks of a film happening went on for years and many were beginning to give up hope. Then it was finally confirmed that an Arrested Development movie was going to happen.
So I am crossing my fingers that a Bored to Death movie actually happens, and that it can have an ending everyone can be satisfied with.
