The two previews for Paul Thomas Anderson‘s The Master were merely teasers that introduced us to the characters that Joaquin Phoenix and Philip Seymour Hoffman will play.
Though both set the initial tone for the film, the way that these teases were cut, left those who watched it a bit perplexed. So now a full-length teaser trailer has popped up online to comfort those who may have been confused watching the two teasers.
Check it out below.
For those that don’t know, the film follows Freddie Sutton (Phoenix), a recently discharged soldier looking for a way to adapt to a normal society. His anti-social skills and alcoholism lead him stumbling onto a ship full of a new faith-based organization led by Lancaster Dodd (Hoffman).
The new trailer for The Master is truly stunning and intense. Whether or not you believe that this is a film based on Scientology doesn’t really matter, because this is only a glimpse of what is to come. We see some brief moments when the new faith-based organization is at its peak come crumbling down because of Sutton’s presence and those who question Dodd’s methods.
The Master also stars Laura Dern and Amy Adams. It will be released on October 12.
