Marvel Studios’ Phase 2 begins with the movie that launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe to where it is now; Iron Man 3 opens in theaters May 3, and notable faces like Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, and Don Cheadle return to reprise their roles from the previous film. But instead of Jon Favearu directing, Shane Black takes the helm to direct what Kevin Feige calls “a political thriller.” So to see how that theme fits into the third installment of the Iron Man film franchise, you will just have to hit the jump.
Previous trailers have shown that this will probably be the darkest Iron Man film of the three. We’ve already seen a few teases of the Extremis technology at work, but since this is the Mark XLVII (47), we knew that there was a chance we could see 40 additional armors in one film. And that’s what this trailer has. 40 new armors along with the 7 previously used to create an Iron Legion. Showing that Black is going really big with this film.
Tony Stark is still trying to recover after the events in New York and feels that he could do more as Iron Man. But when a powerful new enemy, the Mandarin (Ben Kingsley), arrives, he embarks on a quest to find those responsible for destroying his private world. Along the way, he discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: “Does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?”

Totally rad. I was already going to see this movie. Now I’m really going to see this movie. Er, you know what I mean.
