Disney/Marvel is not wasting any time finding writers to pen the scripts for the four superhero series that will air exclusively on Netflix. Yesterday we reported that Cabin In The Woods writer/director Drew Goddard would pen DareDevil. Goddard had worked on the Cabin script with Joss Whedon, so the hiring seemed fitting.
Now it is being reported that Dexter (up until season 4) and all of the Twilight film adaptations writer Melissa Rosenberg will pen Marvel’s Jessica Jones for Netflix.
Ironically, she was tapped to write a series based on the character over at ABC, which never came into fruition until now. Details on the show are limited at the moment, given that the studios and showrunners are still making deals. So there is a possibility that we could see the Rosenberg’s original pitch on ABC.
At the pace Disney, Marvel, and Netflix are going, we should be hearing of writers being hired to pen the Luke Cage and Iron Fist series soon, all of which are slated for a 2015 release. The plan is that it will all culminate for a Defenders series, which she will also oversee.
In addition to writing the series, Rosenberg will also act as producer of the show. Jones was first introduced into the Marvel world back in 2001 in the Alias series, which is completely unrelated to the J.J. Abrams spy drama of the same name.
So what do you guys think, is this a good hire?
