We went over who will be the villains in Star Wars: Episode VII, and now it’s time to take a look at the Stormtroopers!
Indie Revolver has some images of the Imperial Forces helmets from the film — check out them out here below.
Here’s what the site says about the new helmet, which is likely for an update on the Empire Strikes Back Snowtrooper outfit.
The sequel Stormtrooper helmet feels like a natural continuation from the original, but there are distinct differences. The helmet is not symmetrical – there’s only one breather/vent on the bottom near the mouth, on his left side. The black “mouth” area under the white nose plate appears to be a cloth/mesh (which you can better see in the detail shot below). The eye lenses are still separate, but set into a black frame to connect them and give the illusion of one single piece.
Here’s the second image which shows the helmet with removable face mask in an outdoor setting:
Latino Review weighed in on the photos, saying that these Imperial troopers will be equipped with flame throwers!
The bottom Stormtrooper from the Indie Revolver post is NOT a Sandtrooper but a Snowtrooper. The background is generic enough to make it hard to tell, but when you see that design, it’ll be in a cold atmosphere. No Trooper with crazy gasmask-like face plate is complete without his customizable weapon, so these Snowtroopers are outfitted with FLAME THROWERS. Yeah. That’s happening.”
After Indie Revolver posted the two images, they found another image posted on RPF of a helmet prop:
According to Latino Review, these troopers are not the only ones we’ll see in Episode VII:
These aren’t the only variations on Troopers we’ll see. If you remember, we have been chasing rumors of a black and/or chrome Stormtrooper and I’m going to double down on one of those: There is a chrome Stormtrooper and s/he appears this way because that armor has the power to CLOAK. Invisible Troooper! Good for stalking. Much WOW!
Also, here’s a cool sketch of the helmet by artist Tom Hodges, who created the image after getting a look at the helmet BEFORE the images hit the internet (via And because Making Star Wars):
Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled to open in theaters on December 18, 2015.
