The GoD List Banner

Each and every week, I, “Too Cold!” Henchman 21 and “Way Too Cold!” Empress Eve read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible”¦ theoretically. Naturally, we look forward to some more than others. I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of our pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of November 19, 2014. Single issues and trades, they’re all here.

It’s a special all Image hardcover edition because apparently they felt the need to drop three awesome collections out on the same week. Which I guess is cool because it’s not like I need money going into the Christmas season. But, I suppose I was just going to spend that money on gallons and gallons of egg nog and I may as well spend it on awesome comics. Which is exactly what we suggest you do on The GoD List!

Casanova Volume 1: Luxuria cover by Gabriel Ba

Casanova Volume 1: Luxuria The Complete Edition Hardcover (Image Comics – $29.99) Casanova holds a special place in my heart as the book that first introduced me to Matt Fraction, Gabriel Ba, and Fabio Moon, three creators who have gone on to make a lot of fantastic comics. Casanova is their bizarre tale of Casanova Quinn, famous thief and black sheep of the Quinn family. He gets sent to a parallel reality where he is a master spy. Or maybe he’s a double agent. Or maybe he really is a good guy. I still think this is some of the best writing Fraction has ever done, and Ba’s artwork is fantastic throughout with a style like no one else. You’re in for a treat if you’ve never read the series before, and fans will want to buy it again thanks to this editions larger size. And I officially can’t wait for volume four.

Lazarus Deluxe Edition, Volume 1 (Image Comics – $34.99) Lazarus, by Greg Rucka and Michael Lark is about a near future where corporations have become the ruling families in the world. Each family is protected by their own near-immortal warrior known as a Lazarus. Forever Carlyle is the Lazarus of the Carlyle family, but there’s more to here past than she knows about. This collection has the first nine issues but more importantly has more of the back ground info that went into creating the world, and this is a world that I just want to learn more about after each issue. I’m more than happy to be given an excuse to re-read this series.

Saga Deluxe Edition, Volume 1 (Image Comics – $49.99) It’s Saga, one of the best series out there according to pretty much every one. If you need an excuse to read the series again, this edition collects the first 18 issues at a slightly larger than normal size, plus extras like script pages, behind the scenes discussions about the series and plenty more. If you’ve never read the series, well you probably should and this edition gives you plenty of bang for your buck. There are plenty of reasons to love Saga, largely thanks to Fiona Staples art, which perfectly captures Brian K. Vaughan’s story of star-crossed lovers and everything they go through to start their new family. Saga deserves all the praise it receives and this is just another excuse to buy a copy of it if you do or do not own it already.
