October 21, 2015. Yeah, you’ve been hearing about this day in a thousand internet memes all year and the day is finally here. So strap on your hoverboard, wear your pockets inside-out, and buy yourself a Pepsi Perfect. But don’t forget to buy a whole batch of comics, including a new series based on a certain movie which many are celebrating today. Now, I’ve got to go listen to some Huey Lewis and the News, but you enjoy today’s heavy version of The GoD List!

Karnak #1 (Marvel Comics – $3.99) If there’s one new Marvel series, I’ve been looking forward to, it is Karnak #1. Yes, I’m most excited about a comic staring a minor character from the Inhumans, but I don’t care because Karnak is awesome. Why am I so excited for this series? One, because Karnak is a unique character; he is part of the Inhuman power structure even though he’s technically not an Inhuman. He just has the training that allows him to look at something, find its weakness, and punch it out of existence. Reason number two that I’m excited for this series is that it’s written by Warren Ellis. Karnak is exactly the kind of character that Ellis can take and breathe new life into, as he has done recently with Moon Knight. Artist Gerardo Zaffino is a new name to me, but looking at the preview pages, his work looks pretty good and is a good match for what Ellis likes to do. I’ve been looking forward to Karnak since it was announced, at least partially because Karnak is one of those Marvel characters that I love for some unexplained reason. This is at least one Inhumans book that should get everyone interested in it.

Uncanny Inhumans #1 (Marvel Comics – $4.99) Meanwhile, Marvel says you’re going to get more Inhumans, so deal with it. Or don’t. I mean it’s a free country, and the best way to let Marvel know if you like more Inhumans stuff is to vote with your dollars.

Multiversity Deluxe Ed HC (DC Comics – $49.99) Hey, the collected edition of Grant Morrison’s Multiversity is finally out, if you’ve been waiting to read it all at once. Multiversity is of course Morrison’s love letter/wrap up to the bulk of his DC run, full of his trademark wild ideas and illustrated by a host of great artists such as Jim Lee, Frank Quitely, Cameron Stewart, and more. This collection features all nine issues plus the Multiversity Guidebook, so there’s plenty here to keep you entertained. This is a must buy for any Morrison completest or just anyone who wants a wild story that journeys to every corner of the DC Universe.

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Minicomic Collection HC (Dark Horse Comics- $29.99) Do you want 1,232 pages of He-Man comics? The answer is yes, yes you do. Now granted, the comics reprinted in He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Minicomic Collection Hardcover (thank goodness for copy and paste because that title is too long) are probably of mixed quality, but at about 2 cents a page, it’s kind of hard to knock the value and you are getting comics from creators like Tim Seeley, Robert Kirkman, Bruce Timm, Mark Texeira, and a host of others. The MotU fans I know must be chomping at the bit for this.

Back To The Future #1 (of 4) (IDW Publishing – $3.99) This new four-issue miniseries from IDW Publishing fills in some of the gaps within the Back To The Future franchise, showing us what happened off-screen with the time-traveling duo of Marty McFly and Doc Brown, including how they met!!! It also reportedly provides some alternate takes on what we already know. This new comic book miniseries comes just in time for not only the 30th anniversary of the first film, but it also launches on the exact date, today — October 21, 2015 — that Marty travels to in the second film. Each issue will contain two stories created by the films’ co-screenwriter, Bob Gale, and are considering canon. Along with Gale, the creative team consists of writers John Barber (Transformers) and Erik Burnham (Ghostbusters, TMNT), and artists Brent Schoonover (Batman ’66, Ant-Man) and Dan Schoening (Ghostbusters). (The issue is also available today digitally for the Kindle for $3.99.)
