In 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, the bulk of Anna Paquin’s scenes as the mutant Rogue were cut, turning her appearance into a cameo. Although the Blu-ray edition released back in October did not restore those deleted scenes, director Simon Kinberg had said that there were plans for a “Rogue Cut” home video release in the first half of 2015.
Now, it looks like an extended Blu-ray edition with Rogue’s scenes added back in as well as new bonus content will be coming this Summer.
Our friends over at /Film noticed that James Finn, Fox Home Entertainment’s executive vice president of marketing communications, recently posted to Twitter about the Rogue Cut, stating that there will be a separate Blu-ray edition that will NOT include the theatrical version of the film, and that it would have its own extras.
Here’s the post from Twitter:
@DOFPXmen no. Distinct film. Distinct extras. Complimentary to DOFP Blu-ray but not repetitive.
He also said that there will be a Digital HD version released on the same day as the new Blu-ray edition.
Paquin’s scenes reportedly formed a “substantial” subplot, which the filmmakers felt didn’t fit into the final version of the film, which already had a lot of plots and subplots. The “Rogue Cut” will contain over 10 minutes of additional footage edited in that include both Paquin’s performances as well as sequences involving other characters.
