Back in January of 2018 we found out that Ryan Reynolds was developing a new movie based on the Hasbro board game Clue at 20th Century Fox, with his Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick in talks to pen the screenplay.
Now that movie may have found its director. Jason Bateman, who has starred in Arrested Development, Juno, Horrible Bosses, the Netflix series Ozark, and much more, has entered into early negotiations to direct Clue for Fox (and now Disney).
According to the report, if a deal is worked out Bateman is also planning to star alongside Reynolds.
This would not be the first time that Bateman has stepped behind the camera. He directed the movies Bad Words and The Family Fang, both of which he also starred in, as well as episodes of numerous TV series including an episode of Arrested Development, eight episodes of Ozark, for which he won an Emmy Award this past weekend, and even an episode of Family Matters back in 1997. He also stars in and directed episodes of the upcoming HBO series The Outsider, which is an adaptation of the Stephen King novel of the same name.
In addition to starring, Reynolds is also producing through his production company Maximum Effort. The project is part of a three-year deal he signed with Fox. Also producing is Hasbro’s Allspark Pictures.
