Before we all get ahead of ourselves, we have to say that this is nothing more than a rumor at the moment. We don’t know who is writing, directing, or starring in Captain Marvel, but we do know that the film is scheduled for a November 2, 2018 release.
Marvel has an excellent track record with casting roles for heroes and villains, and have yet to disappoint us. While the studio has been known to make their announcements early on, a new rumor suggests that they are keeping the actor behind Captain Marvel a secret, and will do so until she makes an appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Hit the jump for more.
Latino Review’s Umberto Gonzalez first reported on the news on his Instagram account. He reports not only has the Age of Ultron script been slightly rewritten to add her conclusion, but that comic writer Kelly Sue DeConnick wants to be involved, and Jim Starlin — who “has a rich history with Captain Marvel” will be added as a consultant.
Last year, Marvel was rethinking Captain Marvel, and Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige made it a top priority to feature a strong female character in a solo film. But that was before it was announced that she would have her own film. We’ve heard many rumors of who may play the character, including Katee Sackhoff and Yvonne Strahovski. Even rumors of Emily Blunt signing on swirled.
We already know that the events of Age of Ultron will have an impact in Phase 3, and will see the repercussions of the Avengers’ actions in Captain America: Civil War. There is also speculation that we may see a new Avengers roster by the time Civil War is released. If this is true it would fall in line with this latest rumor. It could be that in concluding moments of Age of Ultron, Cap and Iron Man’s differences finally come to a boiling point, with heroes and other humans with super abilities forced to choose a side, all of it leading up to Civil War. And during those final minutes it’s possible that Captain Marvel may be one of the first to choose a side.
Again, this is all unconfirmed. Although Age of Ultron director Joss Whedon has hinted at the fact that we would be seeing superheroes not seen in any released footage. So could he be alluding to Captain Marvel, Black Panther, or Spider-Man?

Considering her origins, they should start her on Agents of SHIELD before the movie
