Developer Eidos Montreal and publisher Square Enix’s 2011 reboot of the Deus Ex video game franchise, a prequel to the original games titled Deus Ex: Human Revolution, is a personal favorite of mine. Myself and other fans of the game have been waiting quite a while for the follow-up, while attempts have been made to turn the last game into a movie, and now the time has come.
After about four years, the next game in the franchise, titled Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, is in sight. It’s also been unveiled as Game Informer’s May cover reveal, and to celebrate the big reveal, a video has been released offering a first peek at the game.
You can learn more about the game and see the first look video below.
Human Revolution was set in 2027, 25 years before the events of the original Deus Ex games, and followed Sarif Industries head of security Adam Jensen as he attempted to figure out who was behind an attack on the company that left him near death and requiring robotic augmentations to survive. This new game will also be set around that time and stick with Jensen as the primary protagonist.
Here’s a brief description of the new game from Game Informer:
Set in 2029, two years after the events of Human Revolution, Adam Jensen returns and joins forces with an Interpol-funded task force aiming to hunt down and capture augmented terrorists in a world that now hates and fears transhumans. Jensen has a new suite of augmentations that allow him to cleverly navigate stealth, combat, and social interactions, but how Jensen chooses to solve every problem is entirely up to you.
When exactly Mankind Divided will be released is not yet known, but you can see more of the game in the coming weeks over at Game Informer for their exclusive coverage. It’s also a safe bet we’ll be seeing something come out of E3 2015 this June.
One thing that is known is that the game will be released on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
