Back at E3 2015, Final Fantasy fans were elated to see a trailer for a Final Fantasy VII remake. We saw some gameplay footage at PlayStation Experience 2015 as well.
Earlier this week at E3 2019, a concert dedicated entirely to Final Fantasy VII called “A Symphonic Reunion” was held. During the concert, a surprise trailer for the FFVII remake was shown which revealed the long-awaited release date for eager fans to circle on their calendars. To add to the already buzzing fan excitement, a four-minute trailer for the remake was released last night along with a trailer for a Final Fantasy VIII remaster. You can find all of the trailers below.
Here’s more on the Final Fantasy VII remake:
The world has fallen under the control of the Shinra Electric Power Company, a shadowy corporation controlling the planet’s very life force as mako energy. In the sprawling city of Midgar, an anti-Shinra organization calling themselves Avalanche have stepped up their resistance. Cloud Strife, a former member of Shinra’s elite SOLDIER unit now turned mercenary, lends his aid to the group, unaware of the epic consequences that await him.
A spectacular reimagining of one of the most visionary games ever, the first game in this project will be set in the eclectic city of Midgar and presents a fully standalone gaming experience.
The remake is coming to PlayStation 4, and can be pre-ordered in a Standard Edition and a Deluxe Edition if you want to secure a copy early.
The Final Fantasy VII remake will be released on March 3, 2020 while the Final Fantasy VIII remaster will be released later this year.
