The views have been counted and the winner of the Batman v Superman Honest Trailers-off is… Superman… really? That means the gang at Screen Junkies were forced, by us, to give the HT treatment to Bryan Singer’s 2006’s homage/sequel/remake/reboot… “hobootquel” of Richard Donner’s 1978 classic, Superman Returns. This marks the 4th time the Screen Junkies team have dabbled in the Superman franchise, with Donner’s Quest for Peace and Man of Steel already having one.
Check out the Honest Trailer below.
Brandon Routh is NOT playing Superman or Clark Kent in this film, he is playing Christopher Reeve and he nails it! Speaking of nailing it… hahaha, sorry that was bad even for me… this time Superman has a son because he slept with Lois then disappeared for 5 years… yep, Supes was a deadbeat dad. And since Brandon Routh is imitating Christopher Reeve, let’s have 2-time Oscar winner Kevin Spacey mimic Gene Hackman, complete with terrible real estate plans, and worse toupees that actually look like Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex hair in BvS.
Narrator Jon Bailey points out how perfect boyfriend James Marsden is totally being lied to by Lois, while being stalked by Superman. And how crazy is it that Marsden has lost girls in movies to Superman, Wolverine, and Ryan Gosling! Poor Marsden… YOU ARE NOT THE FATHER! But there’s actually some great stuff here, like the plane scene, which Bailey calls the best Superman action sequence, and I totally agree. Singer marries some good action with scenes of Superman saving lots of lives, and still having time to be mopey… “see Zack (Snyder), you can it both ways.” Oooh, sick burn!
Starring: Christopher Routh, House of Shards, Sighclops, Kal-el Penn, and Parker Posey’s huge glass of olives… New title: Man of Feels.
