This week on NCIS: Gotham… Will Arnett (star of Lego Batman) stars as Batman pulling desk duty after he has to hand in his gun, badge, and mask. Picking up the phone wearing a button down and one bat glove, oh how far Gotham’s finest have fallen!
Will Arnett completed his third day at San Diego Comic-Con live on the Syfy channel. His guests on Saturday included Elijah Wood, The Magicians crew, the cast of the new sci-fi show Timeless, debuting on NBC this Fall and of course, it wouldn’t be the Syfy channel, without some hot Sharknado action as Tara Reid joins him. Arriving via segway to Europe’s classic Final Countdown, he was greeted by throngs of screaming cosplayers. His panel was David Giuntoli (NBC’s Grimm), Mercedes Mason (AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead), and YouTube star Andre Meadows.
More below.
Giuntoli discussed the Grimm panel to set for the 6th season. Mason jokes about how there’s always one 4-year old telling her how great her character is, which leads her to wonder why I 4-year is watching FTWD. Arnett then throws some self promotion discussing the “panel of the convention”, the Lego Batman panel. They discuss Dr. Strange and star Benedict Cumberbatch. “He is a very handsome man for a guy with very little blood in his system,” says Giuntoli. We then got some exclusive footage of Justice League and clips from the new Wonder Woman trailer.
Jackie Jennings was sent to special Syfy party for The Magicians where she hung out with cast members Stella Maeve, Hale Appleman, Jason Ralph, and Olivia Taylor Dudley. Dudley said she was here before, but as a guest. Appleman confesses to wanting to buy old school TMNT merch. They discuss the upcoming season 2, which Dudley said will be darker than season 1 and they shout out author of the book series, Lev Grossman. Who’s alive and who’s dead, check out season 2 of The Magicians in 2017 on Syfy.
Next up was the Sharknado trivia challenge hosted by Tara Reid, with Director Anthony Ferrante in the crowd. After a rather awkward game (live TV folks), a man wins a Dodge Charger. Sharknado 4: The 4th Awakens premieres July 31st on Syfy.
Jackie is back with the cast of Timeless, including stars Matt Lanter, Malcolm Barrett, and Goran Visnjic. Lanter and Barrett are a cop and scientist out to stop criminal time machine thief Visnjic. “Are there any historical periods you would love to go back to?” asks Jennings. “I’m black, NO!” jokes Barrett. The Timeless SDCC area has a full gravitron machine which Jackie gives a whirl. Timeless starts this Fall on NBC, Monday nights at 10:00.
Back to the stage with Will Arnett and he brings out Elijah Wood, Samuel Barnett, and Max Landis, two stars and the writer/creator of Dirk Gently. Wood described his various attempts to walk the floor at SDCC in masks. Apparently there is a gif of Elijah Wood morphing into Daniel Radcliffe, and Arnett got his a Harry Potter mask to wear. Max is asked, “What is a holistic detective agency?” He describes the show as The Big Lebowski meets Game of Thrones. The group plays “One Weapon to Rule Them All” where they have to describe why their weapon will win. Of course Arnett has a bat-a-rang. Max Landis is given a pokeball, and he says “it makes suffering cute.” Barnett is given a wooden stake, and hey, it can kill vampires so it should win. When Arnett misplaces a final weapon to give to Elijah Wood, he has one on him, and it’s… the RING to rule them all. Before they announce a winner, Lucy Lawless (Ash vs. Evil Dead) runs up the stage with her Necronomicon and Xena sword!
A final look at Sharknado 4, and we are out from SDCC.
