When Warner Bros. announced a Flashpoint film as a part of their DCEU slate, it meant that their comic book movie universe could be in for a change. In the comics, Flashpoint is the result of Flash going back in time to rescue his mother only to find out that time has changed in the present. Meaning that he didn’t have his powers, Thomas Wayne became the Batman as the result of his son dying, and the entire world is at war with Themyscira and Atlantis.
Now there’s a rumor that Wonder Woman could be appearing in the Flashpoint movie. Find out more on this story below.
According to Forbes, Gal Gadot is set to reprise her role as Diana Prince in Flashpoint. While this would be one of the first major characters to appear outside of their own film, the report says Flashpoint would be an ensemble film. Considering the impact it could have on the entire DCEU, it only makes sense that we’d see more heroes in what could be their final film. Of course, that is just pure speculation, but Wonder Woman being involved seems to be set in stone.
For those that may not be familiar with the Flashpoint story arc, in it, we see Barry Allen run to the past to prevent the death of his mother. His noble yet selfish act causes the timeline to be altered thus creating what is known as Flashpoint. In this new timeline, Superman is not the captive of a government agency who uses him as a lab rat; Thomas Wayne becomes the Batman after his son is tragically killed, which also results in his wife becoming the Joker; Atlantis and Themyscira are at war with each other which has now bled onto the human world. Cyborg also plays a pivotal role in the arc, serving as one of the greatest heroes, who attempts to assemble a superpowered resistance against Aquaman and Wonder Woman’s forces. Also Hal Jordan never got his ring from Abin Sur, a member of the Green Lantern Corps.
So as you can see, Allen’s act created a devastating ripple effect that changed the lives of DC Heroes for good.
The film, which is to hit theaters in 2020, still doesn’t have a director. If this film were to follow its title, it means we could see some huge changes to the DCEU. Which means some members of the Justice League might not walk out of this event unscathed.
Having a Flashpoint film makes a lot of sense. In fact, a lot of the roles are already cast for this to happen. This includes Jeffery Dean Morgan, who played Thomas Wayne in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
But that isn’t the only good news. Forbes says there is a chance that Wonder Woman could be their Iron Man. What this means is that Diana could appear over the course of many DCEU films. Having already appeared in her own, plus Justice League, and possibly Flashpoint, the report suggests that she could have a role in other DCEU films. But that remains as a possibility, and we will keep you up to date should that change.
