This weekend Brooklyn Geekfest returns to the Gregory Hotel in Bay Ridge for the second straight year. The “comic con-like” convention is presented by Gotham City Games, a local video game store in the neighborhood. Like any good convention, the event will host an adult and child cosplay contest offering cash prizes, as well as a variety of vendors shopping toys, art, comics, retro games and systems and more. But where Geekfest sets itself apart are the gaming tournaments.
All weekend long the con will be hosting tournaments in some of the most popular games of today and yesteryear, with prizes awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. They’ll be running all day/both days Fortnite: Battle Royale tournaments, along with other tournaments in Super Smash Bros, NBA Jam, Dragonball Fighter Z, and Mario Kart 64. If competitive gaming isn’t for you they’ll have free play on various games all weekend.
Brooklyn Geekfest 2.0 runs all weekend long from 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM on Saturday, April 7th, and then 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM on Sunday, April 8th. A two-day weekend pass is $25.00, or get a one-day pass for only $15.00 and kids get in for $10.00. A Geekfest Pro Pack includes a 2-day pass, plus a limited edition Geekfest t-shirt, a Gotham City Games mystery box, and a raffle entry to win a SNES Classic Mini.
The Gregory Hotel is located at 8315 4th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY, 11209. For all tournament times, vendor info, and more check out Gotham City Gaming, and then visit Gotham City Games at 503 84th Street, Brooklyn, NY, 11209.
