Now that it’s clear that Christopher Nolan‘s untitled upcoming film isn’t North By Northwest meets Inception, as was previously reported, many of us are back to speculating as to what it could be about.
But one thing that we do know is that it will be an event film that is scheduled for a summer 2020 release. And as many of us wait to find out what the film could be about, reports of who will star in it have emerged. Multiple reports say that BlacKkKlansman star John David Washington, High Life star Robert Pattinson, and Widows star Elizabeth Debicki are poised to have roles in Nolan’s mysterious new film. One never knows what to expect from a Christopher Nolan film. But you can be sure it will be a carefully crafted piece that is both pleasing to the eye and meticulously put together. But his upcoming effort has been shrouded in mystery. All that we’ve known was that it was going to hit theaters in the summer of next year. Which will be only a few years after the release of his history pic Dunkirk.
Now there are a few details being revealed about the director’s upcoming feature. While they aren’t story specifics, the film is said to be a “romantic thriller” that is also described as North by Northwest meets Inception. More on the report below.
The Warner Bros. and Christopher Nolan collaboration has been going strong. Even beyond the Dark Knight trilogy, the pairing has delivered one hit after another. And now, the two are ready to release another film.
Unfortunately, we know next to nothing about it. Other than it’s been scheduled for a summer release, Nolan’s untitled film doesn’t have a cast or plot. However, we probably can expect that to change in the coming months. More on the report, below.
Yesterday we ran a tribute to one of the great American films of all time, 2001: A Space Odyssey, which celebrated its 50th anniversary last week.
To also celebrate the occasion, latter-day wunderkind filmmaker Christopher Nolan is taking a 70mm print of the film to this year’s Cannes Film Festival for screening on the French Riviera in honor of the milestone.
Awards season is already in full swing with the HFPA having awarded the Golden Globes this past weekend, and the LAOFCS announcing their winners last month. Often times, they are an indicator of who will end up being nominated or winning an Academy Award. However, actors, writers, producers, and directors in respective guilds and societies have their own awards that recognize its members. We’ve already seen nominations from SAG, WGA, and PGA, and now the Directors Guild of America have released their own nominees for film and TV.
Among those honored are Guillermo del Toro for The Shape of Water, Greta Gerwig for Lady Bird, Jordan Peele for Get Out, and Aaron Sorkin for Molly’s Game. There’s also Christopher Nolan for Dunkirk and Martin McDonagh for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Check out the full list below.
