Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

The 90th annual Academy Awards ceremony is just days away now, and among the many nominees hoping to take home an Oscar is Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri and eight other films vying for the coveted title of Best Picture.

With Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri—which is directed by Martin McDonagh and stars Frances McDormand, Woody Harrelson, Sam Rockwell, Abbie Cornish, Lucas Hedges, Željko Ivanek, Caleb Landry Jones, Clarke Peters, Samara Weaving, John Hawkes, and Peter Dinklage—now available on both digital and physical home video platforms, Fox Searchlight is hoping to convince those who have yet to see the movie to do so before the big awards ceremony this Sunday night. Guillermo del Toro Directing The Shape of Water

Awards season is already in full swing with the HFPA having awarded the Golden Globes this past weekend, and the LAOFCS announcing their winners last month. Often times, they are an indicator of who will end up being nominated or winning an Academy Award. However, actors, writers, producers, and directors in respective guilds and societies have their own awards that recognize its members. We’ve already seen nominations from SAG, WGA, and PGA, and now the Directors Guild of America have released their own nominees for film and TV.

Among those honored are Guillermo del Toro for The Shape of Water, Greta Gerwig for Lady Bird, Jordan Peele for Get Out, and Aaron Sorkin for Molly’s Game. There’s also Christopher Nolan for Dunkirk and Martin McDonagh for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Check out the full list below.

In Bruges Header Image

Martin McDonagh’s In Bruges is one of my all-time favorite movies. It’s dark and twisted and funny and not a movie you can easily forget.

Though I love the movie, I’ve never seen any of the special features. And as it turns out, fan favorite Doctor Who star Matt Smith had a role in a flashback as a younger Harry, the role played by Ralph Fiennes, that was ultimately cut from the final film. After watching the scene you can see why it was cut, but it’s still cool to see.

You can check out Matt Smith’s deleted In Bruges scene below, but be warned: it does contain some violent content and should be considered NSFW.

Seven Psychopaths Header

There has just been a slew of red band trailers being released this week, and now you can add Seven Psychopaths to that list. As you may have seen from the first trailer, the film centers on a down-and-out screenwriter and his two friends (Colin Farrell, Sam Rockwell, and Christopher Walken) who partake in the dog kidnapping business. When one of them accidentally kidnaps the dog belonging to a emotionally unstable gangster (Woody Harrelson), the three are on the run for their lives.

Take a look at the f-bomb filled red band trailer (because that’s the only reason why it is red banded) here below.

The Geeks Of Doom Round Up 19: Seven Psychopaths and Black Sabbath

The nineteenth episode of The Geeks Of Doom Round Up is here, and this week, Andy takes a look at an awesome and amusing trailer for the upcoming film Seven Psychopaths, directed by Martin McDonagh and starring Colin Farrell amongst an all-star cast. Later, Greg tips the hat to fellow Geeks Of Doom contributor, Stoogeypedia, for his recent Top Vinyl Rock Records Of The ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s feature, and we play from his list, "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" by the kings of metal themselves, Black Sabbath.

Later in the show, we take a look at The 10 Best Films of 2012 So Far, from an article by Famous Monster. We also recommend the new feature here at Geeks Of Doom called If BAADASSSSS! Controlled The Universe, and in the first edition, he examines (in an alternative universe), an unfinished version of The Expendables from 1976!
